Beacons Set

So Xbox for the last two months I’ve been able to get a Gold upgrade for $1. (I’m going to keep going month to month as long as they keep offering the service for $1). I set two beacons out there for anyone that has a 360 and wants to play Portal 2 or Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

The only reason I currently have a Gold account is because Microsoft had deals published on the Xbox that I could get a month of Live for $1. As long as they continue that promotion I'll continue getting Xbox Live. when I have to go back to paying $9 or $10 a month, or $60 a year I'm done.
I just don't understand how they continue to get away with it. Especially when most of the services offered for Gold members are redundant and free on the internet.
